The Awareness Program

1.   A decision needs to be made:
Make the quality decision to take time meditating on what God says about you and being "fed up" of the way (weigh) you are.

"Let him commit himself unto the LORD!   Let Him rescue him; let Him deliver him, seeing He delighteth in him."  (JPS) Psalm 22:8

"Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in Him, and He will bring it to pass."  (JPS) Psalm 37:5

2.  Set a goal that you really want:
Whatever the amount of weight is that you need to take off (like 50 or 100 pounds) is the final goal.  Begin, however, by making short term goals for yourself like 10 lbs.  Set that in front of your eyes and follow through.   Once you reach that weight, you'll be happy and encouraged to move on to the next ten pounds.

"With my eyes fixed on the goal I push on to secure the prize of God's heavenward call in Christ Jesus."  (WEY) Phil 3:14

"But the goal of this command is love, out of a pure heart and a good conscience and unfeigned faith."  (WEB) 1 Tim 1:5

3.  If you don’t know how to eat then you have to learn:
There are many good healthy eating books and articles out in the stores to buy and read thoroughly. The food pyramid is where you want to begin with. From there, you find healthy, well balanced meals, including fruits, vegetables, protein, and even low calorie snacks and drinks.  It isn’t about “I can’t eat this or that” NO!  It’s all about training your body to perform as God created it to.

You have to be determined to get rid of gluttony, and selfishness.  It's time to change over from bad eating paterns, where you have been reaping an overweight harvest in your body to yielding consistently to the Spirit of God and begin reaping a healthy body.  One that you will feel good about!

"I will give thought to your orders, and have respect for your ways."  (BBE) Ps 119:151

"For my mouth shall speak truth; and wickedness is an abomination to my lips."  (KJV) Pro 8:7

"But if any man among you is without wisdom, let him make his request to God, who gives freely to all without an unkind word, and it will be given to him."  (BBE) James 1:5

4.   You must keep a diary of everything that goes in your mouth:

That also includes what you are saying about yourself!

No matter what you eat, even if it is one peanut, it has to be logged in your diary. This is the most important thing you can do for yourself. You start by getting a scripture that feels right in your heart and writing it down on the top of the page. Then you put all the food you eat and what the calorie count is of each item for that day next to it. You need a good calorie counter book.  The computer has many sites that you can go to for the counts.  If you are going out to eat - go to the computer and find the restaurant and ask for the nutrient value of the meal you are going to order. BE PREPARED! Libraries have computers and they will help you find what you are looking for. You see, there is no excuse for ignorance!

“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge” Hosea 4:6

After keeping track of your food for several weeks you will have reprogrammed yourself. You will then take the time to choose a snack that is low in calorie. You'll make sure you have vegetables, milk and fruits on your daily sheet. You won’t want to write down you ate 2,000 calories on any given day.  This is all to help you out!

You must make sure your doctor approves of the amount of calories you take in daily.

God will keep you on track if you truly have faith in Him. He will guide you into new food territories. You will enjoy surfing the internet for healthy meals to prepare.

5.   Put your initial weight on the top of the first page in your
diary and chose a day you want to weigh in every week:
When you get up in the morning, go to the scale and take a reading.   Write it down on that day's page.  Don’t be moved by what your weight is. Some weeks it will not look like you lost anything, but, the following week you will have lost double.
Let God take care of you.  If you do your part, God will do His part!

God promises us a long satisfying life, but when you are obese and out of control and don’t want to yield to God - you will not have a long and satisfying life.  Look at yourself. You are out of breath all the time, you can’t walk very far. You are never satisfied when you eat,  you are always wanting more and more until the food has consumed you. God created food as a pleasure in the Garden of Eden and sin has turned it into something we cannot live without.  But with God we can live on earth enjoying the pleasure of food without sinning. Yes gluttony and lasciviousness (lustfulness) is a sin.

"For the drunkard and the glutton shall become poor; and drowsiness clothes them in rags."  (WEB) Pro 23:21

"Whose end is destruction, whose god is the belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who think about earthly things."  (WEB) Phil 3:19

"Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these : fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness."  (ASV)

"Now the works of the flesh are clear, which are these: evil desire, unclean things, wrong use of the senses."  (BBE) Gal. 5:19

"Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness."  (KJV) Eph 4:19

Today is a new day for you!   Look at yourself in the mirror and decide - do I want life or death, blessings or curses?

"I call heaven and earth to witness this day against you that I have set before you life and death, the blessings and the curses; therefore choose life, that you and your descendants may live." Amplified Deut 30:19

Once you have made a quality decision to stop sinning and give your body to God you will see light come into you and you won’t be struggling any more with your weight.
