Malachi 3:10
"Bring all the tithes (the whole tenth of your income) into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and prove Me now by it, says the Lord of host, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it!"

When I first heard about tithing (before I was born again) I thought that the church just wanted my money.  Once I became born again, I heard messages on tithing again, and was shown where it is in the Word of God.  This time I thought differently.  I learned about the principles of giving and receiving.  To receive, you must give.  I fell so in love with God, that I would never ignore what He expected of me.  Now I am not saying it was easy then, or even now, but I knew deep in my heart that I had to tithe and that God would take care of me.
My husband and I started tithing when we were first married, almost 3 years ago.  Back then, I was a substitute teacher and he was a rookie firefighter, neither of which makes very good money.  I will tell you what, though, I don't think we could have paid all of our bills if we didn't tithe, because we always had enough money.  Even when I stopped subbing to have our son (and we only had 1 paycheck) we were taken care of.
We continued over the first 2 years of our marrige to not only give our money, but we also used our apartment every week as a place to have bible studies.  It's amazing what the Lord did for us in return.
He asked us to tithe and we did.  He said that He would take care of our every need and He did.  He said that nothing is out of our control and it isn't.  He said that He would pour out blessings from heaven and He sure did!  Which brings me to my real testimony - our house!

If you know anything about the house market these days, you know it is awful!  Everything is very expensive.  We needed to totally trust God.  Sometimes we would get disappointed, but we knew the blessings of heaven were going to come down.  We even agreed beforehand that when we saw our house it would have everything we want and everyone in our family would love it.
Well, not long after that statement was made we got a call from our realtor.  She had made us an appointment to see a house that had gone on the market just 2 minutes before.  She hadn't even checked with us, she knew we'd love it!  When we walked into that house - it was almost comical.  Everything we wanted - the nicest neighborhood in the city, a garage, a shed, and who would've thought - an inground swimming pool!  Yes, we would have loved a pool, but, I didn't think that we could have afforded a house with one.
The asking price of this house was too good to be true.  We jumped on it.  We consulted the Lord on what to offer, offered it, and then prayed that every other potential house buyer would be kept away.  Within hours, this house was ours!  It was funny because the selling agent told us about a few people who had really tried to go and see this house that day, but, for various reasons couldn't get everyone involved together to view it.
Then, to top it all off, we closed on the house 9 days later.  Imagine!  So, within a span of 10 days, we went from looking for a house, to owning the perfect one for us.  God does work suddenly!

Believing the following scriptures helped us to receive this wonderful blessing from God:
Hebrews 1:2  Jesus is the lawful heir and owner of all things.
Hebrews 2:8  For you have put everything in subjection under his feet.  Now, in putting everything in subjection to man, He left nothing outside of man's control.
Hebrews 11:6  You must not only believe God exists, but you must also believe that He is a rewarder to those who seek Him diligently.
Luke 6:38  Give and (gifts) will be given to you: good measure, pressed own, shaken together and running over will men give into your bosom.  For with the measure that you deal out, it will be measured back to you.
